Introduction to AVA(Avalanche)
Avalanche was co-founded by Emin Gün Sirer(professor at Cornell University and co-founder of IC3), Kevin Sekniqi(computer scientist), and Ted Yin(first author of the Facebook Libra protocol HotStuff consensus). Avalanche leads the development of the AVA blockchain platform, which is based on a revolutionary consensus algorithm - the Avalanche builds the digital payments and computing platform. The consensus enables a highly decentralized, highly concurrent processing and rapid validation of transactions in a distributed ledger, while enabling history deletion and On-chain Governance. At the heart of the AVA blockchain platform is a unified and interoperable set of infrastructure that enables anyone to build a blockchain network or issue assets on the blockchain according to their needs within the AVA ecosystem.
The team includes Professor Emin Gün Sirer, a pioneer in cryptography with extensive research in the field of distributed systems, who developed the virtual currency system Karma, the first monetary system to use the PoW mechanism, seven years before Satoshi Nakamoto's white paper on Bitcoin, and enjoys a high academic standing and influence in the industry.
AVA Labs has opened source code in March 2020, and the test network has now achieved compatibility with Ethernet, with the main network expected to be released in July 2020.
